GWA project Lead Partner, Parco Nazionale del Gargano, is organising a seminar dedicated to the development of water and adventure sports tourism. The event will take place on Monday 10 July 2023 in Lesina (Apuglia Region) at the Centro Polifunzionale via Massimiliano Biscotti (angolo via Vanchina Vollaro) from 4 p.m..
The event follows up with a previous meeting held last May in Cagnano Varano, where another lagoon is present and will be open to citizens and all kinds of stakeholders, including tourism operators, NGOs in the fileds of culture and sport tourism, transport and nautical services and everyone interested in the topic.
The goal of the meeting will be to support local adventure tourism stakeholders in developing and deseasonalising adventure tourist flows at Lake Lesina, in northen Apulia, and its sorrounding areas. Lake Lesina is the ninth largest lake in Italy and the second largest in South Italy, however it is not technically a real lake, but a brackish lagoon. The Lake is the fulcrum of the Lesina Nature Reserve, and an integral part of the Gargano National Park. Many are the activities that take place in Lake Lesina include guided tours, fishing tourism, night fishing, birdwatching, and the attractions such as a botanical garden, an ethnographic museum "The fisherman's house", an LIPU oasis.
Promoted in collaboration with the Municipality of Lesina, it will see the participation of Mr Primiano L. Di Mauro, mayor of Lesina; Mr Pasquale Pazienza, president of the Gargano National Park Authority; Mr Antonio Cocco, Euromediterranea. It will be an opportunity to discuss how to create a shared management model of water sports and adventure tourism in the Gargano area.
